Not veterinary advice: follow your state veterinarian. This is a sourced reading of official notices, dated when we read them. Orders can change overnight, so confirm with Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA), Division of Animal Industry (State Veterinarian) before you move, show or sell birds.

Current situation

What the agency's own pages and tables showed when we checked, with the line each comes from.

  • APHIS lists no Nevada flock detection in 2026; its latest Nevada row is Clark 01 (December 5, 2025, WOAH non-poultry, control-area release shown as NA). NDA's 2025-2026 avian influenza news concerns dairy herds (January 2025); no poultry control area or quarantine notice was found.

These rest on a notice that may be out of date, or that we couldn't read with our tools. We don't show them as current rules until they're confirmed; if they matter to you, ask the agency directly.

  • A rule or order

NDA's avian influenza page lists a statewide ban on Nevada poultry (birds and eggs) and dairy cattle exhibitions at fairs and shows, effective January 14, 2025, until further notice; NDA's own June 2026 State Fair scheduled poultry and dairy cattle shows, and no lifting notice was found.

Why: NDA's avian page and its dairy-cattle page (read October 14, 2026) still state the January 14, 2025 ban until further notice, but NDA hosted the June 11, 2026/13 State Fair; NDA's own NJLS 2026 schedule lists a Poultry Show, Poultry Showmanship and Dairy Cattle Showmanship and Breeding; no lifting notice found

Waiting on: owner confirmation from NDA Animal Industry (diseasereporting@agri.nv.gov) that the ban is in force or lifted, or an NDA lifting notice

Can I take my chickens to a poultry show or swap in Nevada?

What do I need to bring chickens or hatching eggs into Nevada?

How current is this page?
We read Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA), Division of Animal Industry (State Veterinarian)'s notices on October 14, 2026. Whether each order is in force is worked out from its dates every time the page is rebuilt, at least once an hour, so an order never shows as in force after it ends.

What we couldn't confirm
  • NDA's import page requires an avian influenza test within 30 days for poultry and game birds; NAC 571.070 (last amended 1992) does not mention avian influenza. The page is NDA's current statement; the legal basis was not found.
  • NDA's 'Requirements for All Livestock Events in Nevada' PDF returns 404; any event health rules there are unread.
  • No NDA phone number for bird reports is given on the avian page (email and USDA line only).
  • New World screwworm: no NDA entry order or poultry condition found; NDA's screwworm page refers to the standard import requirements page, which names no screwworm requirement (read October 14, 2026).
  • Show ban: the hold stands until NDA answers. The statefair.nv.gov schedule prints no year; NDA's own NJLS 2026 schedule (agri.nv.gov) dates the poultry and dairy shows June 11-12, 2026.
  • NAC 571 is read from the Legislature's copy ('Revised Date: 11-17'); no Nevada Register scan for later NAC 571 adoptions was done.
  • APHIS detections: USDA's own Tableau export (publicdashboards.dl.usda.gov), filtered to Nevada by the fetcher.
  • Show ban: the ban's own order text was not found; only NDA's page statements (avian page and dairy-cattle page) were read. No rescission or lifting notice appears on NDA's avian page or in its 2025 and 2026 news lists.
