What we couldn't confirm
  • Rule text not read: the Alabama Administrative Code site is a JavaScript app. The entry and exhibition rows rest on ADAI's own web summaries, which give no effective dates; a 2025-2026 rule change could not be checked.
  • ADAI's site search lists a March 2017 post, 'Avian Influenza Updates and Helpful Information'; news leads (not official) say a 2017 order prohibited poultry exhibitions and sales and was lifted in April 2017. It was not read and is not recorded. No 2022-2026 statewide show or sale order was found on ADAI's sites.
  • The ADAI exhibition section names Pullorum-Typhoid only for in-state show birds; whether exhibitions also require an AI test for Alabama birds is not stated.
  • The NWS entry rules cover 'warm-blooded animals' with no poultry exemption; birds are not named, so whether ADAI applies them to poultry shipments is unconfirmed. Not a bird-flu measure; owner/reviewer to decide whether Flock Status pages show it.
  • The general special-permit rule (al-entry-general-1) does not say whether a state with HPAI counts as 'not meeting Alabama requirements'; no HPAI-specific state-of-origin restriction was found.
  • Phone numbers differ by page: 334-240-6584 (Poultry Unit), 334-240-7253 (State Veterinarian, poultry and import pages), 334-240-7255 (2022 organizer sheet and permit requests).
